A woodcut by Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld for the German book, “Christenfreude in Lied und Bild” (Gaber & Richter: Dresden, 1855). It depicts the angels carrying a soul to the New Jerusalem above. Note the imagery from Ephesians chapter 6! The angels are bearing this soul to heaven on the shield of faith, while others carry either the helmet of salvation, the chest armor of righteousness, or the sword of the Spirit. Once again, von Carolsfeld employs excellent imagery.
